Physical Education Pedagogy (Ten-month, Full-time, Tenure-track, Assistant/Associate Professor)
The Pedagogy Division in the Department of Physical Education and Sport
at Central Michigan University (CMU) is recruiting for a full-time,
ten-month, tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor, beginning August
2010. The CMU Department of Physical Education and Sport offers
undergraduate and graduate degrees and is located in The Herbert H. and
Grace A. Dow College of Health Professions. Rank and starting
salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Qualifications:
Required: Doctoral degree in Kinesiology/Physical
Education with an emphasis in motor control/motor learning, and/or motor
development. Demonstrated leadership, vision and collaborative
skills in order to assist in administration and organization of a
quality NCATE accredited pedagogy program.
Preferred: Experience in teaching measurement and
evaluation and/or statistics; experience in online and hybrid teaching
formats; demonstrated successful college teaching; experience or
demonstrated interest in securing extramural grants and contracts;
demonstrated research agenda based on published works and external
funding; and demonstrated commitment to advancing diversity.
Desirable: Previous work with students doing research,
including experience with thesis or dissertation committees; experience
working collaboratively with other professionals on projects and
assignments; interdisciplinary experience; evidence of involvement with
professional associations and organizations; proficiency in use of
technology; effective oral/written communication skills; and
demonstrated leadership skills.
Responsibilities:
Teaching: Teach graduate and undergraduate courses in
physical education, such as motor control/learning, motor development,
measurement and evaluation and/or statistics; potential to teach other
graduate and undergraduate courses in both the online and classroom
formats in other subject areas in the department and/or college; and
perform other duties and responsibilities as needed to maintain quality
academic program.
Research: Conducting research and scholarly endeavors that
leads to securing extramural funding to support an ongoing research
agenda; be involved in scholarly projects with other faculty and
students that lead to quality professional presentations and refereed
publications; and direct undergraduate and graduate student research
projects and/or theses.
Advising. Involvement in campus and community service;
advising undergraduate and graduate students.

The Herbert H. and Grace A. Dow College of Health Professions consists
of four academic units (Physical Education and Sport, Communication
Disorders, the School of Health Sciences and the School of
Rehabilitation and Medical Science). It offers undergraduate
and/or graduate degree programs in audiology, communication disorders,
community health education, health services administration, school
health education, physical therapy, physician assistant, exercise
science, substance abuse prevention, health promotion, speech-language
pathology, physical education, sport studies, athletic training,
athletic coaching and sport management, delivered by 100+ faculty/staff.
