High Incidence Disabilities, Special Education (Tenure-track,
Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor)
The Department of Counseling and Special Education at Central
Michigan University invites applications for a tenure-track
appointment in the area of High Incidence Disabilities, Special
Education at the level of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor
effective August, 2010. We are seeking a generalist who can
teach in a variety of areas including curriculum and instruction and
inclusive educational practices. The position involves both
undergraduate and graduate teaching, advising, supervising student
research, grant writing, university service, and maintaining an
active research program.
A doctorate in special education or related area is required.
For assistant professor rank, ABD will be considered if degree is
completed by the date of hire. Applicants must
have evidence of potential for teaching effectiveness and research
productivity for assistant professor rank and evidence of teaching
effectiveness and sustained research productivity for the rank of
associate or full professor rank. Special education teaching
certificate, and PK-12 or related experience working with
individuals with mild to moderate disabilities required.
Preference will be given to candidates with expertise in one or more
of the following: transition, assessment, inclusive education
practices for students with cognitive impairment.
