Central Michigan University seeks a tenure-track faculty member
to join an energetic team for our growing programs in the Department
of Educational Leadership.
Established in 1892, Central Michigan University has an enrollment
of 27,000 students, including approximately 20,000 students on the
university's main campus. Classified by the Carnegie
Foundation as a doctoral research university, CMU is recognized for
strong undergraduate education and a range of focused graduate and
research programs. CMU is a student-focused university with
opportunities for leadership, internships, and off-campus volunteer
programs. CMU competes at the NCAA Division I-A Football Bowl
Subdivision level in athletics and is located in Mount Pleasant, an
expanding mid-Michigan community of approximately 25,000 permanent
residents. A recently developed tourist destination point,
Mount Pleasant has retained its small-town flavor while embracing a
wide variety of special interest groups and outdoor recreation

Required Qualifications: Earned doctorate in
educational leadership, educational research, or related field, from
an accredited institution; administrative experience in a P-12
educational organization; evidence of effective teaching in an
institution of higher education; evidence of an active and quality
research and publication record; experience serving on student
research committees; and excellent oral and written communication
skills.
Preferred Qualifications: Executive experience
in the central office of a P-12 educational organization; grant
writing and grant administration experience; expertise in
educational finance, negotiations, charter schools, central-office
administration, human resources administration, organizational
theory, educational reform, program assessment and evaluation,
and/or data-driven decision making; experience with distance
learning methodologies; and experience and expertise of
international, global or comparative education.
Application Requirements: Letter addressing
specific qualifications related to posting and complete resume of
professional experience; official transcript of doctoral degree
(transcripts of other degrees will be a condition of employment);
and recent letters from three references who can attest to
applicant's strengths regarding required qualifications.
Review of completed applications will begin May 2, 2008.
Anticipated starting date may start as soon as August 2008, or
as soon thereafter as is mutually agreeable.

Assistant Professor
Required Qualifications: Earned doctorate in
educational leadership, higher education administration, or related
field, from an accredited institution, or evidence of anticipated
degree completion prior to appointment date; expertise in higher
education administration; evidence of effective teaching in an
institution of higher education; evidence of active research agenda;
and excellent oral and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience directing
doctoral dissertations or dissertation committee membership and/or
experience on student research committees; expertise in community
college administration, college teaching, higher education finance,
adult learning theory, higher education law, and/or research
methodologies; evidence of active publication record; grant writing
and grant administration experience; experience with distance
learning methodologies; and experience with international, global or
comparative education.
