Elementary Generalist/Math or Literacy (Tenure-track, Assistant Professor)
 

The Department of Teacher Education and Professional Development at Central Michigan University invites applications for a tenure-track appointment as an Elementary Generalist with a focus in either mathematics or reading/literacy.  This appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor and will be effective August 2008.  The position requires maintenance of scholarly research and publications; service to the university and PK-12 schools; and excellence in teaching and advising at the university level.

Required credentials include a doctorate in education, curriculum and instruction, or related field (ABD will be considered with degree completion within one year of employment).  Also required are demonstration of three (3) years of successful teaching in a PK-8 setting; a background in mathematics or reading/literacy; and demonstration of excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred credentials include effective use of technology to enhance teaching; documented presentation record and other scholarly productivity; grant writing; the ability to integrate topics of diversity into the curriculum; and demonstrated service to PK-12 schools.

Early Childhood (Tenure-track, Assistant Professor)
 

The Department of Teacher Education and Professional Development at Central Michigan University invites applications for a tenure-track appointment at the rank of assistant professor effective August 1, 2008.  Candidates must have an earned doctorate in early childhood/primary education or elementary education with a specialization in early childhood/primary education (ABD considered if completed during first year of employment); minimum three years successful teaching with the PK through grade three levels; evidence of potential for scholarship; and strong oral and written communication skills.  The position requires maintenance of scholarly research and publications, service to the University and PK-12 schools, and excellence in teaching and advising at the university level.

Preferred credentials include the demonstrated ability to integrate instructional technology and diversity in teaching and student learning; successful teaching in higher education; and grant writing experience.
